B.Sc OT Technology in India is a 3-year bachelor-level paramedical course designed to develop competent operation theatre technologists who support surgical and anaesthesia teams. The curriculum blends human anatomy and physiology with OT practices such as aseptic techniques, sterilisation and disinfection, infection control, surgical instrumentation, patient positioning, and perioperative care. Students learn OT workflow management, biomedical equipment handling (including anaesthesia workstations, monitors, suction, cautery, and ventilators), and emergency protocols like CPR and basic life support. Training also covers theatre documentation, biomedical waste management, and hospital safety standards. Most institutes include structured clinical postings in major and minor OTs, CSSD, ICU, and emergency departments to build hands-on proficiency. Graduates are employed in multispeciality hospitals, trauma centres, day-care surgery units, and surgical specialty clinics, assisting in general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT, ophthalmology, and neurosurgery, depending on exposure and employer requirements.
