B.Sc. Special Education is a specialised undergraduate course in the Education stream designed to prepare professionals to support learners with diverse disabilities in school and community settings. The programme covers foundations of education and psychology, human development, educational assessment, curriculum adaptation, behaviour management, and inclusive education practices. Students learn to identify learning needs, design Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), use assistive devices and ICT tools, and collaborate with parents, therapists, and teachers. Most institutions include structured practicum such as observation visits, teaching practice, case studies, and internships in special schools, inclusive classrooms, and rehabilitation organisations. Depending on the institution, the programme may offer exposure to disability areas such as Intellectual Disability, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Learning Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or multiple disabilities. After graduation, learners can pursue roles as special educators, inclusion facilitators, rehabilitation support staff, or move to higher studies such as M.Ed. Special Education, M.Sc.
