B.Sc Zoology in India is a 3-year undergraduate programme offered by universities and affiliated colleges under CBCS/NEP-aligned structures. The curriculum builds understanding of animal biology from cellular and molecular levels to organisms, populations and ecosystems. Students study animal diversity (invertebrates and vertebrates), anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, evolution, ecology, developmental biology, immunology, and applied areas such as wildlife biology, fisheries, and environmental biology, depending on the institution. Practical components are central, including microscopy, dissection (as per institutional and regulatory guidelines), histology, biochemical tests, basic molecular biology techniques, and field visits for biodiversity and ecological sampling. Many colleges also include research methodology, biostatistics, scientific writing, and a project/dissertation or internship in the final year.
