B.A. Hindi in India is a three-year undergraduate programme under the Arts stream designed to develop proficiency in Hindi language and a structured understanding of Hindi literature and criticism. The curriculum typically covers the history of Hindi literature (Adikal, Bhakti, Ritikal, and Adhunik periods), major poets and writers, genres such as poetry, fiction, drama, and essays, and foundational concepts of literary theory and aesthetics. Many universities also include functional Hindi (vyavaharik Hindi), translation (anuvad), linguistics basics, and communication/writing for media to improve employability. Students learn textual analysis, interpretation, and academic writing through assignments, presentations, and internal assessments. Depending on the university’s CBCS/NEP framework, students may also choose interdisciplinary electives (political science, sociology, history, education, journalism) and skill enhancement courses.
