B.A. Visual Arts is a practice-led undergraduate programme that combines studio training with theoretical grounding in art history, aesthetics and visual culture. Over three years, students progressively learn foundational skills such as drawing, composition, colour theory and perspective, and move towards advanced work in media like painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, mixed media and digital art (depending on the institution’s facilities). The curriculum usually includes appreciation of Indian and Western art movements, contemporary art discourse, and the basics of professional practice such as portfolio development, documentation, presentation and exhibition planning. Many colleges also include workshops, field visits to museums/galleries, seminars, and a final-year project or graduation show. Graduates can work as independent artists or explore roles in galleries, museums, publishing, advertising support functions, education, community arts and creative content. The degree also provides a base for pursuing M.A./MFA programmes, design courses, or specialised certifications in areas such as illustration, photography, animation or art therapy.
