B.Sc Nursing in India is a four-year undergraduate programme designed to develop competent registered nurses with strong clinical, communication, and critical-thinking skills. The curriculum integrates core sciences such as Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, and Pharmacology with nursing foundations, medical-surgical nursing, child health (paediatric) nursing, mental health nursing, obstetrics and gynaecological nursing, and community health nursing. A significant part of the course is hands-on clinical posting in affiliated hospitals and community settings, where students learn patient assessment, vital monitoring, medication administration, nursing procedures, infection control, documentation, and patient education under supervision. Students are also introduced to nursing research, statistics, nursing management, and professional ethics to support evidence-based practice and leadership readiness. After successful completion, graduates can pursue registration with the State Nursing Council (as per applicable rules) and work in hospitals, public health programmes, educational institutions, and home healthcare. Many graduates also choose higher studies such as M.Sc Nursing, specialised diplomas, or prepare for national and international licensure pathways.
