Diploma in Medical Radio Diagnosis (DMRD) is a 2-year postgraduate diploma designed primarily for MBBS graduates who want structured training in radiodiagnosis and imaging-based patient care. The curriculum combines classroom teaching with intensive clinical postings in radiology departments, exposing students to conventional radiography, contrast studies, basics of ultrasonography, and foundational understanding of CT and MRI. Strong focus is placed on radiation physics, radiation safety, imaging protocols, quality assurance, and reporting skills with clinical correlation across medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, and emergency care. Students learn to select appropriate imaging investigations, recognize common and critical findings, and communicate results effectively to clinicians. Assessment generally includes theory papers, practical/clinical exams, and viva voce, along with maintenance of logbooks and case records. DMRD supports careers in hospitals, diagnostic centres, and allied healthcare settings, and serves as a pathway for further specialization in radiology/imaging as per institutional and regulatory norms.
