ITI Electrician is a 2-year vocational training programme under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) that prepares students for electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work. The course focuses on hands-on practice in wiring, domestic and industrial electrical systems, motors, transformers, and basic control circuits. Students learn to follow safety standards, use electrical tools and measuring instruments, and interpret wiring diagrams. It is suitable for candidates aiming for jobs as electricians or for self-employment in electrical services.
ITI Electrician is a job-oriented trade course designed to build practical competency in electrical fitting and maintenance across residential, commercial, and basic industrial environments. Over two years, learners gain skills in electrical safety, use of hand and power tools, measurement with instruments like multimeters and clamp meters, and installation practices such as conduit and casing-capping wiring. The programme also covers fundamentals of electrical engineering, wiring diagram reading, earthing, protective devices, and maintenance of components like switches, sockets, MCBs, RCCBs, contactors, relays, and starters. Training typically includes motor and transformer basics, simple control wiring, and troubleshooting of common electrical faults. Workshop-based learning and trade practicals form the core, supported by Employability Skills (communication, IT basics, workplace discipline) as per NCVT/SCVT norms. After completing the trade, candidates can pursue apprenticeship (Apprenticeship Training under NAPS/NATS where applicable), work in maintenance teams, electrical contracting support roles, or start small electrical service businesses. The course provides a strong foundation for further skill upgradation through short-term courses and industry certifications.
