JEE Advanced 2026 - Exam Pattern

JEE Advanced 2026 follows a computer-based test format consisting of two compulsory papers, each of three hours duration, conducted on the same day (May 17, 2026) with a break in between – making the total exam time six hours. Both papers are mandatory, and the final rank is calculated based on the aggregate marks obtained in both. Each paper is divided into three equal sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with approximately 18 questions per section (total ~54 questions per paper). The total marks are around 360, though the exact distribution varies annually. Question types are deliberately diverse to assess multiple skills: single-correct MCQs, one-or-more-correct MCQs (partial marking possible), numerical-value answers (decimal or integer, no negative marking), matrix-match/list-matching questions, and paragraph/comprehension-based questions.
