Foreign university campuses opening in India in 2026
By Ritika Chatterjee
Indian students now have a powerful new option: earn a globally recognised degree from top foreign universities without leaving the country. Under the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations of 2023, universities ranked in the global top 500 can set up independent campuses in India. By 2026, around 15 such institutions have received clearances, with several already operational or admitting their first batches. This shift, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, brings international-quality education closer and at a significantly lower cost.
