ITI Fitter is designed to prepare students for hands-on roles in mechanical assembly and maintenance across industries like manufacturing, automotive, construction equipment, and heavy engineering. Over two years, students learn to read basic engineering drawings, select tools, perform precision measurement, and carry out fitting operations such as filing, chipping, scraping, drilling, reaming, tapping, and threading. The course also introduces basic welding, lubrication, bearings, fasteners, power transmission elements, and preventive maintenance practices used in workshops and plants. Emphasis is placed on safety, quality, and productivity, along with employability skills. Training includes substantial practical workshop time, enabling learners to assemble components, align parts, and troubleshoot common mechanical issues. After successful completion, candidates can seek entry-level roles such as fitter, maintenance assistant, or assembly technician, and can also pursue apprenticeships under the Apprentices Act to improve job readiness and career growth.
